GM Candidate Eric DeCosta Staying With Baltimore Ravens

Ravens director of player personnel Eric DeCosta drew interest from several teams looking for a GM but the Ravens have announced he is staying in Baltimore and will not take any more interviews.

Every year around this time when teams are looking for general managers, we hear Eric DeCosta's name brought up. He's the GM-in-waiting behind Ozzie Newsome and the Baltimore Ravens and every year his name is connected to multiple jobs.

This year is no different as the rumor mill has linked him to the Colts, Rams and Bears, among other teams. But, like the previous years, the Ravens have announced that DeCosta is staying in Baltimore. He will not take any more interviews for GM jobs.

It’s unclear if DeCosta received anything (like money) to sweeten the deal in Baltimore. But either way, he’s got a pretty good gig as it is. As the director of player personnel for the Ravens, he’s learning behind one of the NFL’s best GMs in Ozzie Newsome and is widely expected to move into that job when Newsome retires.

So that’s that on DeCosta this year. You can count on hearing his name thrown around next year at this time.
