The Houston Texans are preparing to host the Cincinnati Bengals in the opening round of the 2012 NFL playoffs on Saturday. It will be the first-ever playoff appearance for the Texans franchise. There is still some last-minute news coming out regarding player statuses before the game kicks off.

On Saturday afternoon, the official Sunday Night Football Twitter feed offered a couple of updates on injuries prior to the game.

Bengals safety Taylor Mays did you participate in practices during the week due to a hamstring injury and was listed as doubtful prior to today, according to SB Nation's Bengals blog, Cincy Jungle. It now appears that he will be sitting out this playoff game entirely.

The bigger news, perhaps, is the item regarding Andre Johnson. The superstar wide receiver for the Texans has missed several weeks due to various injuries during the season and there was rampant speculation about whether he would be fully ready to play on Saturday. If Johnson is indeed at 100 percent, that could be the edge that the Texans need to come away with a victory.
