NFL Hall Of Fame: Bill Parcells, Jerome Bettis Among Finalists

The 2012 NFL Hall of Fame class could include Bill Parcells, Jerome Bettis, Cris Carter, and Tim Brown.

The NFL Hall of Fame will induct another class of legends in 2012. On Saturday, before the beginning of the 2012 NFL playoffs, the NFL announced the Hall of Fame finalists who could make up that class, a star-studded list of names that includes Bill Parcells,

Jerome Bettis

, Cris Carter, and

Tim Brown

.

Parcells, who won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants and led the New England Patriots to another, is one of two finalists nominated in their first year of eligibility; the other is Will Shields, a stalwart offensive lineman who started in 223 of his 224 games with the Kansas City Chiefs. They join Carter and Brown, both previously denied entrance to Canton, as well as big names like Bettis, Curtis Martin, and Andre Reed.

The rest of the finalists include players Aeneas Williams, Chris Doleman, Kevin Greene, Charles Haley, Cortez Kennedy, Dermontti Dawson, Willie Roaf, former San Francisco 49ers owner Edward DeBartolo, Jr., and senior nominees Jack Butler and Dick Stanfel. Notable snubs included former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, coaching legend Don Coryell, Roger Craig and Terrell Davis.

Four to seven finalists will be announced as enshrinees on the eve of the Super Bowl in February, and will be inducted as the 50th Hall of Fame class in August.
