The New Orleans Saints did what just about everyone thought they would -- put up a ton of points and beat the Detroit Lions in the NFC Wild Card game. The Saints beat the Lions, 45-28, and gave no impression they're slowing down from their nine game winning streak.
NFL Playoffs Schedule: Saints, 49ers Will Meet In Divisional Round
The Saints took care of business against the Lions and move onto the divisional round where they’ll face the 49ers.
The Saints move onto the divisional round of the NFC playoffs and will play the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are the No. 2 and the Saints are the No. 3 so the game is in San Francisco. Both teams finished the season at 13-3 and both were in the argument all year for the NFC's best team behind Green Bay.
This game will be a battle of offense and defense. The Saints are one of the best offensive teams not only this season but all time. Drew Brees broke the single-season passing record and the Saints routinely put up 30 and 40 points.
On the other side of things, the 49ers have one of the best defenses in the league. Their linebacking corps are terrific and Justin Smith might be the best defensive lineman in football. The offense isn't flashy but it doesn't make a lot of mistakes.
The two teams will meet on Saturday, January 14 at 4:30 p.m. (ET) on FOX.
