NFC Wild Card 2012: Giants, Falcons Look To Exorcise Recent Postseason Demons

The Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants will face off Sunday in the NFC Wild Card round not only looking to advance to the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs, but to also exorcise some recent postseason demons.

The Falcons have never won a playoff game with Matt Ryan at quarterback; last season, the top-seeded Falcons fell to eventual champion Green Bay in the divisional round and lost to the Arizona Cardinals in 2008 in Ryan and head coach Mike Smith's first season with the franchise. Atlanta has not won a playoff game since 2004.

Meanwhile, New York has yet to win a postseason game since upsetting the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. The Giants lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round the following year and has not returned to the playoffs since.

A date with the defending Super Bowl champion Packers is on the line Sunday. One team will end a postseason drought, while the other will root against them on television. Unfortunately, that doesn't end postseason droughts.
