The New York Giants' offense has finally made a big play and scored points in their 2012 NFC Wild Card game with the Atlanta Falcons. Those things just benefited the Falcons, is all.
VIDEO: Eli Manning’s Intentional Grounding In End Zone Gives Falcons Safety, 2-0 Lead
After being backed up to the shadow of their own goalposts, by a penalty and a failed run up the middle, Eli Manning dropped back on a second down and got pressured by James Sanders on a blitz from the weak side. While being wrapped up in the end zone, Manning tried to throw the ball away, as you can see on this video.
That was a bad idea: after a conference of the officials, Manning was flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone, and the penalty gave Atlanta a safety and a 2-0 lead.
Atlanta’s bullpen is overworked, though, so the Giants should definitely have some opportunities to rally in the eighth inning.
