Falcons Vs. Giants, 2012 NFC Wild Card: New York Adds Field Goal, Leads 10-2

Good news for anyone worried that the brief offensive success of the New York Giants in the first half would turn Sunday's NFC Wild Card game into a shootout: the Giants' offense appears to be getting untracked, driving for a field goal in the third quarter to extend New York's lead to 10-2.

On their first drive against the Atlanta Falcons defense in the second half, the Giants waited until their first third down to rev things up, with Eli Manning finding Hakeem Nicks with a zippy throw to move the chains.

The subsequent set of downs was not much different, with an Ahmad Bradshaw run for eight yards on first down metastasizing into a third and 12, which Manning got out of with some nifty pocket work and a throw to Victor Cruz. Bradshaw then got the Giants into the red zone with a 30-yard run, his longest of the day.

The Giants stalled there, with another Manning throw to Nicks falling incomplete on a third down despite plenty of contact between Nicks and Chris Owens, but still extended their lead.

SB Nation’s NFL bloggers made predictions for Wild Card weekend and here’s a look at the updated NFL playoffs schedule for Sunday. Check out Big Blue View for the latest on the Giants and The Falcoholic for the latest on the Falcons.
