The New York Giants have rattled of 17 unanswered points since the Atlanta Falcons got on the board first with a second quarter safety. Each drive gets significantly more important for the Falcons, and this one, coming with two and a half minutes left in the third quarter, was the most important one so far.
Falcons Vs. Giants: Atlanta Struggling In Short Yardage Situations
If there was a way to summarize the Falcons offense in one word today, it would be "short." Whether the Falcons need inches or a yard, they just can't seem to get it. This drive was another three-and-out. Julio Jones picked up four yards on a short pass. Michael Turner got five yards on second down, but the Falcons needed six. On the next play, third down, the Giants swam through the Falcons' offensive line and pulled down Turner for a loss of one.
The drive ended along with the second quarter. With a 15-point deficit, the clock is now working against the Falcons.
