Some say the Pittsburgh Steelers defense is old. Other might say that age makes them savvy. Ryan Monday sure looked savvy stripping the ball out of Willis MaGahee’s hands, forcing a fumble that the Steelers were able to recover at their own 44-yard line.
Steelers Vs. Broncos, 2012 AFC Wild Card: Roethlisberger Touchdown Pass Ties It, 23-23
Roethlisberger was sacked on the first play of the resulting drive, but he hit Emmanuel Sanders for a 15-yard gain on the next play. Isaac Redman converted the third-and-one. Roethlisberger's alertness and what must have been a helpful visit with the pharmacist during the half for his ankle injury kept the drive alive with a six-yard scramble on the next play. Redman then picked up the first down.
Pittsburgh took a shot at the end zone from the Denver 31-yard line on their new set of downs. Roethlisberger almost got picked off, but it landed incomplete. Roethlisberger went deep again, and this time hit Jericho Cotchery in the middle of the end zone for a 31-yard touchdown.
That tied it 23-23. Time to review the overtime rules, just in case.
