Eric Decker Injury: Broncos Receiver Has MCL Sprain

Eric Decker left the Broncos’ big win in the 2012 NFL playoffs with a sprained MCL and will have an MRI on Monday.

Early in the second quarter of Sunday's AFC Wild Card game between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers, Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker was hit low on a crossing route by the Steelers' James Harrison. He left the game and did not return, and the Denver Post's Mike Klis reports that Decker suffered an MCL sprain on the play, but that the injury "wasn't as serious as the Broncos first thought."

Decker will undergo an MRI on Monday, but it seems unlikely that he will play against the New England Patriots on Saturday in the AFC Divisional round; if he does play, it would be a rather good assumption that he would be less than 100 percent.

Decker, a second-year player from Minnesota, caught 22 passes and had four touchdowns in the Broncos' first five games of the year, otherwise known as the games Kyle Orton started for Denver this season. Since then, in games Tebow has started, he has just 28 catches over 11 games, though he has caught five touchdown passes, most notably a 56-yard touchdown pass against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9 that began a streak of five straight improbable comebacks.
