The Miami Dolphins have their focus on Jeff Fisher and are reportedly very high on him, but they also have some other interests. The Dolphins plan to interview Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, according to a report by Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald expands on Zimmer a bit:
Mike Zimmer To Interview With Miami Dolphins, According To Report
Glazer said the Dolphins are expected to ask permission to interview Zimmer, who has spent the past 12 years as an NFL defensive coordinator - seven with Dallas, one with Atlanta and the past four with Cincinnati. His defense ranked 15th last season and seventh this season.
The Dolphins are locked with the St. Louis Rams in a battle for Jeff Fisher's services, but the Dolphins are looking to cover their bases with some other candidates. Zimmer has coordinated one of the better defenses in the NFL in the past few seasons with the Bengals.
