The Chicago Bears used a huge second half to defeat the Dallas Cowboys, 34-18, on Monday Night Football.
Bears vs. Cowboys game recap: Bears ride big second half to 34-18 win
Chicago led 10-7 at halftime, but exploded for 24 points in the second half to pull away. The Bears got the second half scoring started with a 34-yard touchdown reception by Devin Hester.
That touchdown put the Bears up 10, but Lance Briggs extended the lead a few minutes later on a 74-yard interception return for a touchdown. It was the Bears' second defensive touchdown of the game. Briggs' interception was one of five Tony Romo threw on Monday.
Brandon Marshall put the exclamation point on the game with 6:35 to play in the fourth quarter when he hauled in a 31-yard touchdown. Marshall finished with seven receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown. Jay Cutler finished an efficient 18-of-24 for 275 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the field, the Cowboys struggled to put points on the board. Romo threw for 307 yards but threw just one touchdown pass compared to the five interceptions. The Cowboys were unable to get much of a running game going with DeMarco Murray rushing for just 24 yards on 11 carries.
With the win, the Bears move to 3-1 on the season and tie the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC North lead. The Cowboys fall to 2-2 and a game behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.
Fantasy studs and duds
Marshall had a huge game, hauling in seven receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown while the Bears’ D/ST was also a big fantasy scorer with five interceptions, two touchdowns and a sack.
Tony Romo was a dud with the five interceptions while DeMarco Murray didn’t get much going on the ground but salvaged the game somewhat with seven catches for 57 yards.
Injury report
Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter left the game during the first quarter with a hip injury, but later returned.
Did they cover?
The Cowboys entered the game as -3-1/2 point favorites, a number they obviously failed to cover with the 16-point loss.
