D’Qwell Jackson injury: Browns LB plans to play Bengals on Sunday

Cleveland Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson will play this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, despite sustaining a head injury last week against the New York Giants.

It was unclear whether Jackson would be able to play after missing Wednesday’s practice, but returning today, he told reporters that nothing will stand in his way from playing in the Battle of Ohio:

“I’m full go,” Jackson said. “I passed all the tests. I’m rested. I feel fine.”

Last week against New York, shortly before the close of the first half, Jackson was hit by two offensive lineman and sustained what was thought to be a concussion. So far this season, he has totaled 31 tackles in five games, tied for second most on the Browns, while adding three sacks and two interceptions. Even though this week’s game holds special importance for Cleveland, Jackson wasn’t going to sacrifice his future for the game:

“You never know what kind of damage you can do in the long term. Once you affect your head, it’s about long term. This is about me having a family one day. I can’t jeopardize myself like that.”

Thankfully, this wont be a decision he’ll have to make. In Week 2, the Browns and Bengals faced off, with Cleveland allowing 375 yards of total offense. In that contest, Jackson finished with three tackles, three sacks and an interception.
