Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals: betting odds, preview, trends and pick

Arizona is favored but not by as much as you might expect. Can the Bills win and save the job of Coach Chan Gailey?

The Arizona Cardinals will be looking for their ninth straight victory at home this Sunday when they host the Buffalo Bills at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

Surprisingly, Arizona is just a 4.5-point favorite at most online shops as of Friday.

”It’s surprising because the betting odds were expected to move in Arziona’s favor, given that the Bills have been destroyed in successive weeks,” said Jeff Grant of SportsbookReview.com.

Arizona lost its first game of the season last week against the St. Louis Rams 17-3 to fall to 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS. The game exposed Arizona’s fairly obvious weakness, which is its offense, averaging only 18.8 points per game.

The rushing game is one of the league’s worst at 63.4 rushing yards per game, and could get worse with a season-ending injury to starting tailback Ryan Williams.

After getting blown out by the Jets in Week 1, the Buffalo Bills picked up some positive momentum with double-digit wins over Kansas City and Cleveland. But since then, the Bills have been blown out in consecutive games by New England and San Francisco by a combined score of 97-31.

The Bills are giving up an average of 35.2 points per game and have given up 40+ points in three of their five games. Buffalo is 2-3 both SU and ATS.

It will be weakness against weakness when Arizona’s offense takes the field against Buffalo’s defense. Arizona isn’t likely to score anywhere near 40 points, but playing against this defense at home could be just what the doctor ordered to get some rhythm going on offense.

Patrick Peterson leads a stout Arizona defense (allowing just 15.6 points per game) that should be able to limit the Bills on offense.

The X’s and O’s check out for Arizona, and so does recent form. Arizona is 11-2 SU and 9-4 ATS in its last nine home games including eight straight wins while Buffalo is 1-9 SU and 2-7-1 ATS in its last 10 games on the road.

Overall, Buffalo is 3-11 SU in its last 14 games and Arizona is 11-3 SU over its last 14. At home, Arizona gets things back on track with a win and cover this week.
