John Skelton injury update: Quarterback will be active, nobody in fantasy cares

Skelton is back as the backup, but nobody in fantasy would reasonably touch him. We still break down the fantasy implications.

John Rieger-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Adam Schefter reports that John Skelton will finally return to the Arizona Cardinals sideline as an active player today against the Buffalo Bills, and that's exactly where he will remain: On the sideline. Since injuring his ankle in a Week 1 start against the Seahawks, Skelton has lost his job to Kevin Kolb who has led Arizona to a surprising 4-1 record.

Skelton struggled to get anything going after winning the starting job in the preseason and Kolb has thrown 7 touchdowns in four and a half games. Schefter also reports that Skelton did not get in many reps this week, meaning that if he is forced to come in against the Bills, he will probably be a little extra rusty.

Fantasy Take: There is none.

Skelton is a backup quarterback for a team that is the 31st ranked offense in the NFL. That could change against the Bills today, a team that has allowed 45 or more points an amazing three times already, but that’s going to be the benefit of Kolb. Maybe there is still a ray of hope for the 24-year-old quarterback, but it’s not coming any time soon. He should be 0% owned.
