Giants vs. 49ers, Week 6: ‘The Giants did what they seemingly always do’

The New York Giants were underdogs heading into a matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, but they completely stifled Alex Smith’s offense and walked away with a 26-3 victory.

San Francisco came into the game after putting up 79 points in their last two outings while holding the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets to only three. But as Giants blogger Ed Valentine wrote in his postgame recap at Big Blue View, the Giants flipped the script and earned an easy victory.

Sunday at Candlestick Park the New York Giants did what they seemingly always do. The Giants walked into a hostile environment against a team they weren't supposed to beat, and did exactly that, routing the San Francisco 49ers, 26-3.

The Giants (4-2) not only won the game, they thoroughly dominated the 49ers (4-2) in a rematch of last season's NFC Championship Game.

Ahmad Bradshaw followed up on last week's 200-yard effort with 116 yards and a touchdown, while Eli Manning performed well enough with 193 yards and another touchdown. The real story was New York's defense, which forced Smith to toss three picks, two by Antrel Rolle and another by Prince Amukamara.

The win puts the Giants alone on top of the NFC East at 4-2. They've won two straight heading into a matchup against one of the teams that's already beaten them, the Dallas Cowboys.
