Kevin Kolb injury: Cardinals QB undergoes X-rays

Cardinals starting quarterback Kevin Kolb had to get his rib injury further inspected following Arizona’s 19-16 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills Sunday.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb received an X-ray on his injured ribs following Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills, and the results are expected sometime Monday afternoon, according to Darren Urban of the team's website.

Kolb sustained the injury after being sacked on the run for the sixth time in the game. He was able to walk off under his own power but was replaced by backup John Skelton and did not return.

According to the Arizona Republic’s Kent Somers, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said in his post game interview that Kolb’s rib injury was toward the middle of his chest.

If Kolb fractured some ribs, it's likely that Skelton will be forced to make his first start since going down with an ankle injury in the season-opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

Kolb was 14-of-26 with 128 yards, one touchdown and one interception before leaving. Skelton went 2-for-10 with 45 yards in his place while also throwing a backbreaking interception to Jairus Byrd in overtime that set up Rian Lindell's 25-yard game-winning field goal.
