The Philadelphia Eagles have fired Juan Castillo, the second-year defensive coordinator who was promoted from offensive line coach in 2011. He has been replaced with Todd Bowles, who briefly served as head coach for the Miami Dolphins last year.

Andy LyonsGraham said the Eagles would practice many different looks under Castillo, but only run one thing on game days. Graham says things will be different with new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. Graham reflected on how things have already changed under Bowles:
Since Castillo became the Eagles’ defensive coordinator at the start of the 2011 season, Philadelphia led in 16 out of 22 games going into the fourth quarter. Under Castillo, the Eagles went just 10-6 in the 16 games in which they held a fourth quarter lead. In the 10 years prior to Castillo taking over the defense, Philadelphia was 88-11 in those situations.

According to the piece, the Temple University alum is a rising star in the coaching ranks and so far he has proven himself to Reid.
