Week 7 NFL odds: Cardinals vs. Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings open as a seven-point favorite at home against the Arizona Cardinals

Behind surprise performances from quarterback Christian Ponder and play-making wide receiver Percy Harvin, the Vikings have emerged as a force in the NFC. Coming off a disappointing loss to the Redskins in which they were favored, the Vikings host the Arizona Cardinals in the Metrodome. The Minnesota Vikings are laying a touchdown for the first time this season.

After surprising folks by covering their first three games of the season, the Cardinals have failed to cover as favorites in their last three. John Skelton is in for an injured Kevin Kolb, as the Cardinals struggle to create offense, averaging 13 points per game in their last three outings.

The total for this game is 39.5, which accounts for some of the sluggish offensive play by the Cardinals. However, the Vikings have put up at least 20 points in every game this season, with the aforementioned Harvin finding ways to score every which way he can. While the Vikings can be flashy, the Cardinals would prefer to use their physical defensive front to create short fields so Skelton & Co. can fire from close range.
