Chris Johnson’s big day doesn’t bother the Houston Texans

Houston improved to 4-0 on Sunday by blowing out the Titans, and Texans’ linebacker Brian Cushing was not bothered by the big day his defense yielded to Chris Johnson.

The Houston Texans are a perfect 4-0 and look to be the class of the AFC after the first month of the season. The Texans took care of business against AFC South rival Tennessee on Sunday, blowing out the Titans in the second half for a 38-14 victory. The Titans added a late touchdown in the final minute of the game, but Houston's defense bottled up a Tennessee team that was coming off a big week against the Lions.

One Titan who did have some success against the Houston defense was running back Chris Johnson. The speedy rusher was a no-show through the first three weeks of the season, but he busted out for 141 yards on 25 carries against the Texans. One of the Texans' defensive leaders, Brian Cushing, joined KBME in Houston to talk about the win, and if Johnson's production was a blemish on an otherwise perfect day (via Chris Fedor of Sports Radio Interviews):

“I don’t think it eats us up at all. If you look at it, he had two or three big runs. If it was a close game I’d be a little concerned but we won by 24. People have asked me that question and it’s just one of those things where if anyone talks about that game negatively, I guess that’s one of those things. We’re still, I don’t know, top five in run defense and I think when it matters we will shut teams down.”

After Sunday, Houston is currently giving up 4.3 yards per carry, which is 10th highest in the NFL. But through four games, they're the only team in the league who has yet to allow a rushing touchdown. They'll try to continue that streak on Monday night against the Jets, who are coming off a shutout loss to the Niners.
