Cardinals vs. Vikings, Week 7: Arizona reverting back to Cardinals of old

The Arizona Cardinals dropped their third-straight game, falling 21-14 to the Minnesota Vikings on the road on Sunday afternoon.

After beginning the season with a perfect 4-0 record, Arizona has struggled of late and squashed some of the optimism that fans gained in early September, according to Revenge of the Birds:

Three weeks ago, this may have been a game Cardinals fans were confident about, but now, the team has inspired little hope among fans.

Maybe they’ll be able to pull out the win. But for now, all eyes will again be on the QB’s.

Cardinals quarterback John Skelton had trouble generating drives for the offense in his fill-in start for Kevin Kolb, who is dealing with a rib injury. Skelton tossed for 262 yards and connected on a touchdown with receiver Andre Roberts late in the fourth quarter, but also threw a pick-six and lost a fumble. There was little time afforded for Skelton in the pocket, however, as he was sacked seven times, "showing once again that the team's biggest weakness is the offensive-line."

On the defensive side of the ball, the Cardinals could not stop Adrian Peterson. The Vikings running back totaled 153 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Arizona was stout against the passing game though, allowing only 58 yards to quarterback Christian Ponder.

The loss drops Arizona one game behind the San Fransisco 49ers for first place in the NFC West.
