Pierre Garcon injury: Redskins WR reportedly has torn tendon

Pierre Garcon’s injury could be worse than previously reported, as the Washington Redskins’ wide receiver may have a torn tendon that could keep him sidelined for the team’s next two games.

The Washington Redskins have apparently been hiding the full extent of an injury to Pierre Garcon, as the wide receiver reportedly has a torn tendon in his foot, as reported by Mike Garofalo of USA Today.

Garcon has been listed by the team as having an inflamed capsule in his foot, but a source told Garofalo that he also has a torn tendon, a more severe injury. It’s speculated he’ll miss the next two games and will not play until after the team’s Week 10 bye. It’s not clear why the team chose to hide the full nature of Garcon’s injury, if the report is true.

Garcon was a high-profile signing in the offseason for Washington, signing a five-year deal worth $42.5 million. He showed why in the team's season opener, bringing in four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown, but has only been able to play in two games since. The 26-year-old would bolster the receiving corps available to Robert Griffin III if healthy, but it seems that's still at least a few weeks away.
