Pierre Garcon injury: Redskins WR finally practices again

After being sidelined with a toe injury, Pierre Garcon finally returned to practice on Monday, but Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said the receiver was limited and still fighting the injury pain.

Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon practiced for the first time in a month on Monday after being sidelined with a sprain in his foot for much of the season. Head coach Mike Shanahan said Garcon was limited in his return to the practice field but Shanahan was "glad he was out there today trying to fight through it."

The injury is to a ligament in Garcon’s toe and he has said it causes pain when he tries to run on it, negating the asset of the receiver’s speed. Garcon said on Monday that the injury was not feeling 100 percent, but that he did what he could in his first practice since Oct. 12.

Garcon signed with the Redskins as a free agent in the offseason and immediately made an impact, catching an 88-yard touchdown pass from Robert Griffin III in the first game of the season. It was on that play, however, that Garcon sustained the injury and since then he has appeared in two other games. Garcon has eight catches for 153 yards on the season.

The Redskins are coming off of a bye week and had previously targeted Week 11 as a possible return date for Garcon, though Shanahan did not mention any return on Monday. Washington hosts the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday.
