Maurice Jones-Drew Injury: No Lisfranc for MJD, according to report

Maurice Jones-Drew received good news on Tuesday, when team doctors ruled out a Lisfranc injury.

Cary Emondson-US PRESSWIRE

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew received some good news on Tuesday from team doctors. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jones-Drew suffered a sprained foot during Sunday's game, not a Lisfranc injury, and will not require foot surgery.

Though Jones-Drew will be sidelined for multiple games because of the injury, it is good news for the Jaguars and Jones-Drew. Jacksonville believed that Jones-Drew could have suffered a Lisfranc injury, which would have ended the running back’s season. That, however, is not the case, as Jones-Drew’s foot is merely sprained.

Jones-Drew has 86 carries for 414 yards so far in 2012, and has scored one rushing touchdown. Jones-Drew also has 14 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Jacksonville will be without Jones-Drew in Week 8, when the Jaguars take on the Green Bay Packers. If Jones-Drew is indeed sidelined for multiple games, he will miss Jacksonville's Week 9 tilt against the Detroit Lions. Since the Jaguars' Week 10 game is a Thursday Night Football game, it seems unlikely that MJD will play in Week 10, either.
