Mario Williams injury: Bills DE underwent ‘procedure’ on his wrist

Mario Williams underwent a wrist procedure to alleviate stress in his left wrist.

Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams underwent a procedure on his ailing wrist, according to head coach Chan Gailey on Wednesday.

The Bills are on a bye in Week 8 and Gailey stated that he expects Williams to return to practice next week in addition to being available for next Sunday's game against his former team, the Houston Texans. According to Gailey, the procedure will relieve stress in his left wrist, which has been bothering him for several weeks.

Williams stated on Tuesday that his wrist has caused him to struggle in 2012 and has made him hesitate when attempting to get to the backfield. As of this time, the injury has yet to force Williams to miss any games this season.

The Bills signed Williams to a six-year, $100 million contract ($50 million guaranteed) this past offseason. Through seven games, Williams has yet to make an impact with the team registering 16 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
