NFL trade deadline: Jets will not deal Tim Tebow

The New York Jets have stated that they will not trade Tim Tebow. Would you?

Jeff Zelevansky

With the NFL trade deadline coming up next Tuesday, the New York Jets (3-4) have a valuable asset in backup quarterback Tim Tebow, who potentially could be leveraged for an attractive return as the centerpiece of a deadline deal.

However, owner Woody Johnson and the rest of the organization have remain stedfast in their assertion that the most popular backup quarterback in the NFL will not be traded. In fact, in an interview earlier this month, Johnson went as far to say that Tebow will be with the Jets for the full length of his three-year contract.

As of this time, it appears as though Tebow will remain in New York as a member of the Jets. Of course, that doesn’t mean that everyone agrees with that notion. Notably, Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.

On Wednesday night, Cimini published a column, which questioned the Jets’ use of Tebow to this point. In addition, he expressed the opinion that moving Tebow was the most logical course of action for the franchise, via ESPN.com:

If this is all there is, if this is the most head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano can get out of Tebow, the Jets should consider dealing him before next Tuesday's trading deadline. Maybe his hometown team, the moribund Jacksonville Jaguars, who expressed interest in him before he was traded to the Jets, would be willing to listen. They could use some excitement down there.

Cimini admits that it’s unlikely that Tebow will be moved. With that being said, if you were in charge of the Jets franchise, would you trade Tebow?
