The Dallas Cowboys have signed safety Barry Church to a four-year contract extension on Friday afternoon, according to Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News. Financial terms of the deal are not known.

The Dallas Cowboys have signed third-year safety Barry Church to a four-year contract extension, despite an Achilles injury that has the safety out for the remainder of the season.

Church is currently out for the season with a torn Achilles, suffered in the Cowboys Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 23.
The undrafted rookie was signed out Toledo in 2010 and played in 15 games for the Cowboys that season, notching 15 tackles while playing mostly on special teams. Church became a leader on the special teams unit in 2011 and saw increased playing time at safety in sub packages, playing behind Abram Elam and Gerald Sensabaugh.
The Cowboys signed Brodney Poole in the offseason in 2012, yet released the veteran early in training camp, as Church had earned the starting safety job during the offseason. Church played strong in the first three games of the season, especially against the run, before suffering the injury against the Buccaneers.
The Cowboys play the New York Giants on Sunday, with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
