The Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to win consecutive games for the first time this season, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is exposing a weak Redskins secondary so far at Heinz Field. Roethlisberger is 21 of 28 for 205 yards and three touchdowns as the Steelers lead 27-9 in the third quarter. While all the headlines were mostly focused on the quarterback across the field, it's been Roethlisberger who's methodically cut apart the Redskins to put Pittsburgh ahead comfortably.
Ben Roethlisberger fantasy update: Steelers QB has 3 TDs vs. Redskins weak secondary
Big Ben picked up in the second half with another touchdown drive on the Steelers opening possession. The veteran quarterback dumped it over the top to fullback Will Johnson for a one-yard touchdown pass, his third of the day. He found tight ends Leonard Pope and Heath Miller for two more short touchdown passes in the first half -- that “dink-and-dunk” style that was in the crosshairs last week.
After an up-and-down start to the season, the Steelers appear to be hitting their stride on the offensive side of the ball. Jonathan Dwyer has boosted the running game the past two weeks, but Pittsburgh's bread-and-butter will continue to be Roethlisberger and his array of weapons on the outside.
