Raiders vs. Chiefs: Kansas City’s offense at near-historic level of futility

The Kansas City Chiefs have kicked three field goals against the Raiders, and their offense has been terrible and punching the ball in. This isn’t a new thing.

Jamie Squire

The Kansas City Chiefs have kicked three field goals today, turned the ball over three times and haven't scored an offensive touchdown. In fact, they haven't scored an offensive touchdown since September. The fans are so fed up they're cheering when their quarterback gets injured. Strangely enough, the last time a team has gone a whole month without an offensive touchdown, there was a familiar culprit.

The thing is, they haven't been too terrible today. Sure, they haven't punched the ball in the end zone, but they are performing better offensively than their opponent, the Oakland Raiders. The turnovers have been a bugaboo, but once they get in the red zone, there appears to be some kind of force field on the goal line. It also doesn't help that their best player, Jamaal Charles, has five carries for four yards today.

Keep an eye on this streak if the Chiefs don’t score today, because this could go on for a long time.

UPDATE: The streak ends. Matt Cassel hooked up with Dexter McCluster for a 10-yard touchdown with 2:32 left in the fourth quarter.
