Chargers vs. Browns 2012: San Diego shows lack of heart in 7-6 loss

SB Nation’s Chargers blog, Bolts From The Blue, is unhappy with how little heart the team showed on Sunday.

The San Diego Chargers lost another tough game on Sunday, falling to the Browns by a score of 7-6 in rainy Cleveland. The loss marked the third game in a row the team had come out on the wrong side of the final score.

The offense struggled to click all game, which was especially disappointing considering the coaching staff had a bye week beforehand to get any problems worked out. The defense played well at times, although they were unable to stop rookie Trent Richardson from rushing for 122 yards and a touchdown. San Diego was also unable to force any turnovers against a Cleveland offense that ranked among the worst in the league at giving the ball away.

SB Nation’s Chargers blog, Bolts From The Blue, was disappointed with the way the team showed no heart or desire to win in the second half.

The biggest problem? The team has no heart at all. They fight for nothing. They give up quickly. They get down on themselves at the first sign of trouble. They can't put anyone away (except for when Jackie Battle did exactly that against a Titans team that had no heart). The 2012 San Diego Chargers always seem to have the wrong play called and the wrong mindset for the situation that they're in. The players and coaches look very, very lost.

Our blog also went on to say changes needed to be made sooner than later. Could that mean a change with the coaching staff, whether it be to head coach Norv Turner or a coordinator of some kind getting the boot? Could a new quarterback be the way to go with Philip Rivers continuing to put up mediocre numbers?

It’s a tough decision for a team that has won some big games the last few years, and one you should weigh in on over at Bolts From The Blue.

The Chargers have a quick turnaround this week with the struggling Kansas City Chiefs coming to San Diego for Thursday Night Football in Week 9.
