Dolphins vs. Jets 2012: Complete effort keys Miami victory

Miami has won three games in a row.

The Miami Dolphins scored the first 20 points in their matchup with the New York Jets on Sunday and never looked back, eventually winning 30-9. The victory was Miami's third in a row, and it has the Dolphins in second place in the AFC East, a half game behind New England.

SB Nation’s The Phinsider was pleased with the Dolphins’ effort against the Jets in every facet of the game:

The Dolphins seemed prepared for everything the Jets did today, on offense, defense, and special team. From being able to adapt to Matt Moore coming in to replace the injured Ryan Tannehill, to Chris Clemons intercepting Mark Sanchez at the goal line, to Jimmy Wilson blocking a punt, to Olivier Vernon blocking a field goal and scoring a touchdown, the Dolphins simply crushed the Jets.

Moore finished the day 11-19 for 131 yards and a touchdown after Tannehill left with injuries to his left quadriceps and knee. The Dolphins managed just 236 yards of total offense, but they were able to win the turnover battle, and make some key special teams plays, as The Phinsider noted above.

The Jets converted just five of 17 third downs, and quarterback Mark Sanchez had to throw the ball 54 times as they attempted to mount a comeback. But New York wasn’t able to get into the end zone until midway through the fourth quarter.
