Defensive end Mario Williams of the Buffalo Bills has, as recently as earlier this week, publicly mentioned a lingering sore wrist which he claims is hampering his play. Over the past three weeks, he has played with a cast on his left wrist, and has confirmed with USA Today that he is having a "difficult time coping with" the injury which he claims to have suffered in the late preseason.

In spite of this, though, Williams is not listed on the Bills’ official injury report, an omission which has sparked an NFL investigation into the matter according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The NFL’s official injury report policy states that “players with significant or noteworthy injuries must be listed on the report, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the team is certain that he will play in the upcoming game.” In addition, “this policy is of paramount importance in maintaining the integrity of the NFL.” Per the wording of the policy, Williams should certainly be listed, especially if he is going to both wear protective gear and publicly discuss his ailing wrist.
Williams is expected to play today against San Francisco at 4:25 p.m. ET.
