Eagles Vs. Steelers, Week 5: ‘Sometimes you play with fire and get burned’

The Philadelphia Eagles won three of their first four games by two points or less, but Sunday they were on the wrong end of a close game, falling 16-14 to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Eagles could have pulled out a victory: Michael Vick fumbled twice, including once on the goal line, with the team eventually losing by less than a field goal, and allowed a late drive to bring the Steelers into position to win on a field goal with the clock expiring. However, Jason Brewer of Bleeding Green Nation put the loss into perspective.

Losing a close game where you weren’t played off the field and proved that at least you’re equal to the other team is tough to accept, but if we step back for a minute... this isn’t the worst loss.

Last week, Philadelphia watched as Lawrence Tynes' 54-yard field goal attempt to give the New York Giants a victory as time expired came up a few feet short. Sunday, they were once again at the mercy of an opposing kicker, but Shaun Suisham's 34-yard game-winning attempt easily split the uprights. The similarities between this week and other games were not lost on Brewer.

Just like in those 3 wins the offense came alive in the 4th quarter and led a late go-ahead drive... and just like in those wins the Eagles defense needed to make a stop.

In the 3 wins they did, in this one they did not.
