Browns Vs. Giants, Week 5: Cleveland’s disappointing season continues

The Cleveland Browns had their chances Sunday but couldn’t take advantage, falling to the New York Giants, 41-27.

The Cleveland Browns remained winless on the 2012 season as they fell to the New York Giants on Sunday, 41-27.

The 0-5 Browns certainly had their chances. They opened the game with a Trent Richardson touchdown run and a Brandon Weeden touchdown pass to Josh Gordon to take an early 14-0 lead, but they couldn't hold off the defending champion Giants for more than a quarter. Eli Manning and the New York charged back, scoring 20 points in the second quarter and eventually winning the game, 41-27.

Chris Pokorny of SB Nation’s Cleveland Browns blog, Dawgs By Nature, writes that the blown lead, the mistakes and the 0-5 start are inexcusable.

This is another tough loss for the Browns, especially with how well the Browns started. No matter who was responsible for the loss, Pat Shurmur is going to continue to come under fire. 0-5 is certainly not an acceptable start to a season, and neither is a 41-6 stretch by the opposition in a game where you were up 14-0.

The Browns look to finally find their way into the win column next Sunday against division rival Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns lost to the Bengals in their first meeting of the season, 34-27.
