Titans Vs. Vikings, Week 5: Bleak times in Tennessee

Things look bleak for the 1-4 Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans were dominated in every facet of the game Sunday as they fell to the Minnesota Vikings, 30-7.

Running back Chris Johnson managed only 24 yards on 15 carries and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw for only 200 yards, including one interception.

The Titans were held scoreless by the Vikings defense until the fourth quarter when Hasselbeck connected with Jared Cook for a 10-yard touchdown pass, but by that point the deficit was too much to overcome for the Tennessee offense.

August West of SB Nation’s Tennessee Titans blog, Music City Miracles, writes that there were very few positives to take away from Sunday’s loss, and things very well may get worse.

The Titans got completely killed on offense, squandering 3 decent quarters of defensive play. With Hasselbeck in for [Jake] Locker, we were forced to watch a dink and dump gameplan that failed to even dink. This was a painful reminder that you need two good QBs in this league, and the Titans barely have one.

This is going to be an ugly week for [Mike] Munchak, and if Locker can’t get on the field and be effective on Thursday, it might be the worst month any Titans fan has seen.

The loss drops Tennessee to 1-4 on the season, tied for last place in the AFC South. Their next contest comes against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.
