Dolphins Vs. Bengals, Week 5: Miami defense comes up big

Despite the Dolphins running game being held in check for the most part, Miami was able to come up with a victory, largely due to the defense coming up big

The Miami Dolphins were able to notch their second victory on the season and their first road win after the team defeated the Cincinnati Bengals by the score of 17-13 on Sunday afternoon, despite the running game being held in check for the most part.

Led by running back Reggie Bush, Miami entered Sunday's slate of games as one of the top running teams. However, Bush and backup running back Daniel Thomas were both held in check on the day, combining for just 77 yards.

It was Miami’s defense that won the game for Miami this time, as noted by Kevin Nogle of SB Nation’s Dolphins blog, The Phinsider.

The defense played well throughout the day, ending with the Jones interception. Dalton was also intercepted by nose tackle Randy Starks. Miami had three sacks on the day, one by Cameron Wake, and a half each from Kevin Burnett, Randy Starks, Paul Soliai, and Jared Odrick.

The unit played well for the entire 60 minutes and came up big when it mattered most. That includes when Reshad Jones intercepted a pass from Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton late in the fourth quarter, allowing Miami to ice the game with a pair of kneel-downs.
