Pittsburgh Steelers vs New York Giants: betting odds, preview, picks

New York continues its roll of victories and covered spreads this week as they host the Pittsburgh Steelers. The computer picks a 33-27 result, more than enough to cover the 3-point spread.

The New York Giants are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS over their last four games and will be looking for another win over a tough opponent Sunday when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers at MetLife Stadium.

Prediction computers, betting trends and the wagering public all point to the Giants covering as a 3-point favorite at most sportsbooks tracked by OddsShark.com.

”About 60 per cent of our NFL betting consensus is on New York and our computer picked the Giants to win 33-27 - more than enough to cover the spread,” said Jack Randall of OddsShark.com.

For the second straight season, the New York Giants are off to a 6-2 SU start, this time with a 4-4 mark ATS after beating the Dallas Cowboys on the road last week. Eli Manning continues to amaze regardless of the changes in his supporting cast, leading the Giants to one of the best passing (282.1 yards per game) and scoring (29.3 points per game) offenses in the league.

Dating back to last year, the Giants are 12-2 SU and 10-4 ATS over their last 14 games.

Pittsburgh got off to a slow start this season with a 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS record through its first five games, but seems to be back on track with two straight wins including last week’s 27-12 win over Washington. This week’s game will be a good road test for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh picked up its first road win of the season against Cincinnati in Week 7, but was 0-3 SU and ATS on the road before that game including ugly losses to Oakland and Tennessee.

On paper, the Steelers have the substantially better defense allowing 90.9 less passing yards per game and 21.4 less rushing yards per game. But will that be enough to overcome Pittsburgh’s recent road slump? The Steelers are just 3-5 SU and 1-7 ATS over their last eight road games.

This should be a good game, but we aren’t quite ready to pick the Steelers over the Giants in New York. It was at this point last season that the Giants started a four-game losing streak, and Tom Coughlin will be sure to use that as a motivational point to make sure the team is ready and focused for this game to avoid last year’s tough road to a playoff spot.
