Jeff Allen injury: Chiefs guard out with head injury

Chiefs guard Jeff Allen left Thursday night’s game with an apparent head injury.

Kansas City Chiefs rookie guard Jeff Allen left Thursday's game against the San Diego Chargers during the first half with an apparent head injury.

Allen left the game and was seen heading back to the Chiefs locker room with what could be a concussion. The Chiefs selected Allen in the second round of the 2012 NFL starter and he’s quickly developed into an impact player for Kansas City. Allen has played in all eight games this season, starting the last five games at left guard.

He has been a big part of the Chiefs rushing attack which ranked third in the NFL heading into Thursday night's game, averaging 155.1 rushing yards per game. Despite their season success, the Chiefs are struggling on the ground against the Chargers, averaging 2.8 yards per carry on 15 rushing attempts. Jamaal Charles has just nine rushing yards on six carries.

Allen was replaced on Thursday by 12-year veteran Russ Hochstein.
