Giants vs. Bengals 2012: ‘Blame for pretty much everyone’

The New York Giants have lost two straight, including an ugly 31-13 blowout Sunday at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals. Eli Manning threw two picks while his counterpart, Andy Dalton, threw four touchdowns.

The Super Bowl Champions looked like anything but, as the New York Giants lost to the Cincinnati Bengals 31-13 in a game that was never close, the team's second straight defeat.

New York gave up more points in the game's first five minutes than they scored all game, quickly falling behind 14-0. They'd kick a pair of field goals, but wouldn't reach the end zone until the game was already well out of hand in the closing minutes. The team struggled on both sides of the ball, allowing Andy Dalton to tear the secondary apart for four touchdowns - including a 56-yarder to A.J. Green shortly after kickoff - with Eli Manning tossing two picks in his second straight poor game. Ed Valentine of Giants blog Big Blue View criticized pretty much all parties involved with the game, but took a moment to single out Manning's poor play in his postgame recap:

Speaking of Manning, there was a resurrection of the extremely bad Eli as he threw two awful interceptions while already in the clutches of Cincinnati defenders. This, incidentally, was the Giants’ third straight game without a touchdown pass.

Valentine said the Giants are in the midst of a "November implosion": although the team is still in control of the NFC East at 6-4, two games ahead of the Dallas Cowboys, they've dropped two straight. They have a bye week ahead to help figure things out.
