The Detroit Lions held a lead late into their game against the Packers on Sunday, but Green Bay ultimately pulled out a 24-20 victory. The game could have ended differently for Detroit had it been able to convert a late scoring opportunity into a touchdown rather than a field goal, as SB Nation's Pride Of Detroit explained afterward:

The Lions had a chance to take a 10-point lead on the Packers with the fourth quarter winding down. Instead, the Lions were forced to settle for a field goal, putting the pressure on their defense to hold a six-point lead. The defense folded under this pressure, and the offense couldn’t bail the Lions out, allowing the Packers to win by a score of 24-20.
That scoring opportunity came with less than five minutes remaining in the game and the Lions ahead 17-14. The Lions went three-and-out once they reached the Green Bay 10 yard line, forcing them to settle for a Jason Hanson field goal. Green Bay scored a touchdown on its ensuing drive, giving it a 21-20 lead with under two minutes to go. Detroit was unable to answer, going four-and-out on its next possession, and the Packers prevailed.
The Lions are 4-6 on the season and last in the NFC North. They host the Houston Texans in Week 12.
