Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed became the second player this season suspended for an illegal hit when the NFL announced he has been suspended after a hit to the head area of a defenseless receiver in Sunday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ed Reed suspended 1 game for illegal hit in Ravens-Steelers game
Reed won’t play in the Ravens Week 12 game against the Chargers.

Officially, the NFL characterizes it as, “repeated violations of the rule prohibiting hits to the head and neck area of defenseless players.”
Reed can not practice nor play in the Ravens Week 12 game against the San Diego Chargers.
The play in question came late in the third quarter when Ben Roethlisberger Byron Leftwich found Emmanuel Sanders for a 20-yard gain. Sanders was on a crossing pattern and he began to turn around as he caught the ball when Reed connected on what appeared to be a helmet-to-helmet shot.
Reed was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play.
