Plaxico Burress making a free agent visit to the Steelers

With injuries depleting their wide receiver corps, the Steelers are meeting with free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who played in Pittsburgh from 2000-04.

Free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress is expected to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Steelers wide receiver group has been hit with injuries recently, including Antonio Brown, who has missed the last two games due to an ankle injury. Jerricho Cotchery, who was the Steelers No. 3 receiver in Brown's absence, left Sunday's game against the Ravens late in the fourth quarter.

Burress began his career in Pittsburgh, playing five seasons with the Steelers before departing as a free agent. He played in 71 games with Pittsburgh, catching 261 passes for 4,164 yards and 22 touchdowns. Burress started 13 games for the New York Jets last season, but has been out of football this season.

After a three year absence from the league, Burress returned to the NFL last season and proved to be effective. He caught 45 passes for 612 yards and eight touchdowns with New York.
