Adrian Peterson injury: Missed practice precautionary for Vikings RB

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson missed practice on Friday, but it turns out the team held him out for precautionary reasons. He is expected to be ready for the team’s game on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson missed practice on Friday, which briefly generated some concern about his status for Week 9, but Tom Pelissero of ESPN Twin Cities reports that Peterson sat out practice as a precaution and that he will be "[g]ood to go for Sunday" against the Seahawks.

Peterson has been dominant over the past two weeks. The Vikings played two games over five days, and Peterson had been nursing a sore left ankle, but he still rushed for more than 100 yards in each contest. In a win over the Arizona Cardinals he produced up 153 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries, and then he used 15 carries against the Buccaneers to rip off 123 yards and a touchdown.

The Vikings (5-3) boast the No. 7 rushing attack in the NFL, while the Seahawks (4-4) have held opponents to the fifth-lowest yards-per-game average on the ground over the first eight weeks of the 2012 season. If Peterson’s ankle turns out to be less than 100 percent, it should be easy to notice it against a very talented Seattle defense.

The Seahawks host the Vikings on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET (FOX).
