NFL odds and lines Week 12: Texans vs. Lions

Houston kicks off as a three-point favorite on Thanksgiving in Detroit.

Matthew Stockman

The red-hot Houston Texans are 3-point favorites over the Detroit Lions in Thursday's Thanksgiving NFL matchup. The Texans have won four straight games and nine of the season's first 10, with an average margin of victory of more than 11 points. The Texans are also 7-3 against the spread this season, and have successfully covered in three of their last four contests. However, Houston might be without cornerback Johnathan Joseph, who is listed as questionable after sustaining a hamstring injury in Sunday's win against Jacksonville.

Despite playing a home game every Thanksgiving, Detroit has not won a Turkey Day game since 2003. The Lions are 4-6 overall this season and 3-6-1 against the spread, and just 4-12-1 against the spread in their last 17 games. Lions safety Louis Delmas should play after missing three games with a knee injury. Defensive tackles Nick Fairley and Corey Williams are questionable, and left tackle Jeff Backus is listed as doubtful. If Backus does not play, it will mark the first time in his 12-year NFL career that he missed a game.
