Miles Austin injury: Cowboys WR suffers hip strain against Redskins

The Cowboys may have to try and beat the Redskins without one of their top offensive threats.

Ronald Martinez

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin left the team's Thanksgiving game against the Washington Redskins with a hip strain. Austin sustained the injury during the Cowboys' second drive of the first quarter. Whether or not Austin will return to action on Thursday is still unknown.

Austin had not made a catch before heading to the sideline, even though he was targeted twice by quarterback Tony Romo. The seventh-year veteran has tallied 49 catches for 727 yards and four touchdowns on the year.

The Cowboys jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in first after driving 37 yards in nine plays in 4:40. Dan Bailey capped the drive off with a 30-yard field goal. Tony Romo has completed 5-of-9 passes for 44 yards.

Washington took the lead on a 68-yard pass from Robert Griffin III to Aldrick Robinson with 13:57 remaining the in the second quarter. That ended a seven-play, 93-yard drive for the Redskins.
