Patriots vs. Jets final score: Pats blow out Jets 49-19

After a scoreless first quarter, the Patriots’ offense exploded as New England blew out the Jets 49-19.

The New England Patriots scored 35 points in the second quarter en route to a 49-19 blowout win overt the New York Jets on Thursday.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Patriots scored five touchdowns in the second quarter to blow the game wide open. The scoring started with a pair of Tom Brady touchdown passes before the Patriots' defense and special teams got involved. Steve Gregory returned a Mark Sanchez fumble for a touchdown to make it 21-0. Julian Edelman scored on the ensuing kickoff after scooping up a fumble and returning it 56 yards. Brady capped off the first half scoring with his third touchdown pass of the game.

New England would go on to add two fourth quarter touchdowns including a Brady 1-yard touchdown sneak. The Patriots used a well-balanced attack as five different players scored offensive touchdowns. The Jets scored 16 points in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

With the win, New England moved to 8-3 on the season and now has a 3½-game lead over Buffalo and Miami in the division.
