Patriots vs. Jets 2012: ‘You do not want to face Tom Brady and the Patriots right now’

The New England Patriots won their fourth blowout in as many games, blasting the New York Jets 49-19 in a Thanksgiving Day rout behind touchdowns in all three phases of the game.

It's pretty easy to be a New England Patriots fan after their 49-19 romp over the New York Jets on Thanksgiving night, a game in which the Pats dominated every facet of the game.

After a scoreless first quarter, it seemed like the two squads might play an evenly-matched affair like the 29-26 overtime game New England won in Week 7. By the end of the half, the score was 35-3, with Tom Brady having passed for three touchdowns, two of over 50 yards, and running back two fumbles for touchdowns, one on defense and one on special teams. Pats blogger Greg Knopping of Pats Pulpit made a half-hearted effort at finding faults in the win before celebrating the blowout in his postgame recap:

The Patriots dominated in all phases Thursday night in a 49-19 victory - scoring on offense, defense, and special teams for the second straight week. And even in the huge win, you could argue the Patriots weren't playing their best football. The run defense seemed to struggle again in the first half, despite some stellar individual play from Brandon Spikes and Vince Wilfork. And in the second half, Tom Brady missed some throws at the start that I'm sure he'll look back at the tape and want back, even though he had a great game overall.

Alright, I'm going to stop myself now. How could you possibly nitpick a 30 point victory on the road against a division rival?

It's the Pats' third blowout in four games, having put up 37 or more points in every game since a Week 8 45-7 win over the St. Louis Rams. In those four games, they've scored an average of 45.7 points and won by an average of 27.3 points.Tony Santorsa highlighted Julian Edelman, Stevan Ridley, and Shane Vereen in his postgame breakdown, but eventually just acknowledged the whole offensive unit.

You simply cannot lose football games when you’re putting up points like that...

What does this mean? You do not want to face Tom Brady and the Patriots right now.

The Pats now hold a commanding lead in the AFC East at 8-3.
