Devin Hester injury: Bears WR out with concussion

A concussion has knocked Bears wide receiver Devin Hester out for the remainder of Sunday’s game against the Vikings.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Hester suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings and will not return, the team announced. It's not entirely clear when the injury occurred, but Hester was seen walking to the locker room a while before the official announcement was made by the Bears.

Without Hester on the field, the Bears have turned to offseason acquisition Eric Weems to handle duties as the team's primary kick returner. His absence also presumably means more targets for the team's healthy receivers, Brandon Marshall, Earl Bennett, Weems and tight end Kellen Davis.

Over the first 10 games of the season, Hester caught 18 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown. With 31 different passes thrown his way this season, only Marshall, Bennett and running back Matt Forte have been targeted more by the Bears' quarterbacks this season.

Late in the first half against Minnesota, the Bears are leading, 18-3.
