Matt Prater has been a model of consistency for the Denver Broncos, going 15 for 17 on field goal attempts this season heading into Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He is having a rough Week 12 so far, however, missing his only attempts, from 47 and 33 yards away. The Broncos hold a 13-9 lead in the third quarter.
Matt Prater misses 2 field goals, Broncos still holding slim lead over Chiefs
Matt Prater has missed field goals from 47 and 33 yards out so far during Sunday’s game between the Broncos and the Chiefs. The Broncos hold a 13-9 lead in the third quarter.
His third-quarter kick on the Broncos’ opening drive of the second half will be particularly haunting. His kick snapped from the 15-yard line doinked off the left upright and harmlessly back into the field of play. His first-quarter miss was somewhat more excusable. It had the leg, but sailed wide right.
Opposite him, Ryan Succop accounts for all of the Chiefs’ scoring so far. He is 3 for 3 on the day, making field goals from 34, 22 and 49 yards out. The kicking may ultimately prove to be the difference in a game where both offenses are struggling to move the ball in the running and passing games. The Broncos have 269 total yards to 190 for the Chiefs.
