Harrison Smith injury: Vikings safety questionable to return

Rookie safety Harrison Smith left with concussion symptoms as his Minnesota Vikings played the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Brace Hemmelgarn-US PRESSWIRE

Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith left Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, and his return is questionable as the team medical staff checks him for a concussion, according to Jon Ekstrom of the Vikings' PR team.

Smith left the field in the third quarter looking woozy and without balance after placing a hit on Chicago receiver Earl Bennett.

Jamarca Sanford and Mistral Raymond were filling the safety spots after Smith's injury. Smith was leading the team with six tackles and posted one for loss when he left the game.

Smith has 56 tackles and an interception this season as a key contributor for the Vikings. He was drafted 29th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft and was on track to set a rookie record for the number of starts. Sunday’s game was his 12th of the season, and Smith needs two more to tie the team’s rookie record of 14 held by Chuck Lamson.
